After January stretched on for what felt like three years, February felt like three minutes. But even in its quickness, a theme kept emerging for me—the idea of process, presence, lightness. And underneath it all: How can I make life a little more lovely?
Listening to: Angel by Elvis Presley
This word is about sinking into the moment, making space for ease. A candlelit dinner just because. A playlist that turns a busy workday into something sweet. Fresh flowers on the table, even when the week feels chaotic and the forecast calls for snow.
February was a lesson in choosing loveliness. Not waiting for it to appear, but creating it in small ways, over and over again.
Now we’re shifting into Pisces energy, dreamy and intuitive, and soon—Aries season. The astrological new year. My new year. Spring is near.
Spring is flirting with me! A few warm days here and there, tiny blue flowers peeking up in my yard, birds singing in the morning. And then, just to keep things interesting—the biggest snowstorm of the season.
Last week, Virginia Beach got a foot of snow. This week, it’s sunny and 65. East coast spring, am I right?
Fresh pajama sets, because we still have a few more weeks of winter and I’m still embracing cozy season.
Calling spring in while still honoring winter (a life lesson, no?). What that looks like:
Chocolate-covered strawberry mocha.
February brought back memories of Valentine’s days past, including the best drink I’ve ever had at one of my favorite coffee shops, so I decided to recreate it myself.
A little mocha sauce (I ran through my bottle of Torani way too fast, so I made my own), a homemade strawberry syrup from fresh strawbs, frothed milk, and magic. Litereally Valentine’s Day in a cup.
Ina Garten’s memoir and Kelly Bishop’s memoir—feeling so inspired by these highly accomplished, radiant women. If you are someone afraid of getting older, please do yourself a favor and branch out from your feed of 20-year-olds.
Just started Stanley Tucci’s memoir as well. Fully on a memoir kick and loving it.
Here’s to February—quick, dreamy, and wrapped in loveliness. See you in March.
